Drum and bass undeniably dominated 2024, exploding onto the mainstream topping the charts, selling out festivals, and dominating playlists. Its explosive energy transcended genre boundaries, electrifying dancefloors worldwide, from the heart of the UK to the vibrant club scenes of Australia & New Zealand.
Chase & Status once again retained their crowns, riding high in the official UK charts with pop stars Stormzy & Becky Hill. They performed at the Brits, and sold out their biggest headline show to date at Milton Keynes Bowl.
Lost Legends
Unfortunately 2024 saw the tragic loss of some iconic, trail blazing artists. Undercover Agent the mastermind behind Juice / Splash Records, MC Conrad the voice of Good Looking Records, the legendary DJ Randall, & most recently Lennie D Ice, the man who made We Are IE, which is sighted by many as one of the 1st jungle tracks!
All these pioneers left a huge hole in the hearts & minds of drum & bass lovers both old & new.
D&B Festivals, Holidays & Club Shows
2024 was a tough for a lot of promoters. It’s well documented how much of a hard time night clubs are having in the UK right now. The events that triumphed through these tough times did incredibly well; Hospitality In The Woods, Boomtown, WAH at Drumsheds, & DNB Allstars all presided over huge sold out festivals & events.
Another success story for the year was newcomer promoter Break Away, who hosted their debut D&B club holiday out in Kavos, Greece!
Once again it’s been a great year for us here at LoveThatBass, our label signed some amazing music from the likes of Dunk, Exile, AKAS & Kleu, which both earned us more features than we could have hoped for on JunoDownload, and gained us even more dedicated fans on Bandcamp.
We ended the year on a high with the release of our LoveThatBass Annual compilation.
The hard work of the promoters, artists, producers, and the dedication of D&B fans culminated in Spotify announcing streams of drum & bass have increased by an amazing 94%!!
