Who’s The New Owner Of Kool FM?

Back in December we announced that after 31 years Eastman & Suzy G were stepping away from the day to day running of the infamous Kool FM.

Today Geeneus from Rinse posted on his socials that he is now the man in charge of Kool.

Welcome To The Rinse Family Kool FM

Geeneus Rinse

In his statement Geeneus wrote…

“Around the age of 12 years old, I was introduced to Pirate radio by some of my older cousins, it wasn’t long after that I stumbled upon Kool FM 94.5, and it soon became an obsession. Starting Rinse for me was based on the passion and love I had for Kool FM.”

“To be able to join the Pirate radio community and say we are joining the fight to showcase true underground music created in our community was something I was extremely proud of. It led me to dedicate my life to helping the underground, searching for talent and encouraging young creatives from our background to try. We created a platform that I hope has helped many, and for that I have Kool FM to thank. Soooo! being able to say in words that after 31 years of hard work, Eastman and Suzy have decided to pass the baton over to us to continue the Kool Legacy. I can’t even begin to explain how I’d feel if I could tell the 15 year old me I would one day own Kool FM and Jungle Fever. It is beyond a privilege and I hope to do it justice.”

“Thank you to Kool, Eastman And Suzy for trusting me with this. It means a lot. Kool FM, Jungle Fever – Lets Goooo!”

Geeneus’ Radio Credentials

Rinse FM was founded by Geeneus & Slimzee as a pirate station back in 1994. It wasn’t until Rinse changed its focus in around 1998, to focus on the emerging garage scene that it stepped out of the shadow of Kool FM & gained a substantial following.

In 2010 Rinse was awarded a community FM broadcast licence by Ofcom & started transmitting legally on 7 February 2011.

The current selection of drum & bass show on Rinse includes 1985 Music, Fabio & Grooverider, Harriet Jaxxon, Critical Music, Metalheadz, Watch The Ride, & Uncle Dugs, just to name a few.

In February 2014, Rinse launched Paris based station Rinse France.

2023 see’s the Rinse family adding Kool FM to their roster of radio stations.
