Icicle, most famous for his releases on Shogun Audio & Noisia’s VISION label, has decided to call it a day on his music career, hoping to focus his time more on his professional career in game design & 3D animation.
The end has been on the cards for a while since stating that his most recent album ‘Post’ was to be his last. While he will continue to play shows throughout 2023 he will be wrapping up his time as Icicle at the end of the year.
“I Did What I Wanted To Do”
In a statement posted on his social media he announced:
It’s time for me to hang up my hat and retire from playing shows and writing music as Icicle at the end of 2023. I’ve had an incredible journey and feel very grateful for the places I got to travel, the people I got to meet and the music I got to write. This year I’m gonna make myself available whenever I can ( through ESP AGENCY ) to play a final run of shows and there are still a few projects in the pipeline I’m excited to share such as the Post remixes coming up later this year. Thanks to all the ravers, promoters, music buyers & my colleagues! I’m sure I’ll miss it, but my career as Icicle is coming to a natural close. I did what I wanted to do and it’s time for new avenues. Hope to see you out there!

Career
After commanding the attention of the masses with releases on labels such as Hospital Records, Soul:R, Renegade Hardware and Critical, Icicle made the move from Holland to London in 2008 and exclusively signed to Shogun Audio.
His debut album ‘Under The Ice’ dropped in 2011 featuring the huge track ‘Dreadnaught’ featuring the vocal talents on SP:MC.
After high-profile remixes for the likes of Icona Pop and Noisia, it was his pivotal 2014 sophomore album ‘Entropy’ which marked a more centred approach and smashed its way to the top of the D&B charts, gaining him plaudits from critics and fans all across the world.
It also allowed Icicle to begin work on engineering his brand new live show that would take his performances beyond just DJ’ing, to playing completely live in real-time with no click track or computer screens in sight, coupled with bespoke visuals also VJ’d live.
2017 was marked by the birth of Entropy Music, Icicle’s own imprint.
Written during the COVID-19 pandemic, Icicle’s third and final album ‘Post’ was released in 2022 on VISION.
