Kravitz Selects His Bingo Bangers

-

Kravitz has bean on the grind in the studio, brewing up his piping hot new release ‘Three Coffees Deep’ for Zinc’s Bingo label

We’ve been watching Kravitz for a while now and decided it was about time we caught up with him for an exclusive LoveThatBass article… Better latte that never!

Who Is Kravitz?

Ben Krawiec aka Kravitz is DJ / Producer from Bath. The seasoned selecta has earned his stripes as a drum and bass DJ since his teenage years, but only forayed into production four and a half years ago. After first getting acquainted with the basics back in early 2019, he used the pandemic-induced lockdowns to hone & develop his skills, drawing upon the sage advice of gifted contemporaries to level up his technical abilities.

In the past 12 months Kravitz has released tunes on Jungle Cakes, Gorilla Warfare & Jungle Connection UK.

Three Coffees Deep’ dropped on Bingo today, a rolling caffeine injection of off key basslines, and enough classic computer FX to give you deja brew.

Kravitz Top 5 Bingo Releases

We asked Kravitz to look back over the impressive Bingo back catalogue & percolate over his favourite Bingo bangers. Here’s what he came up with…

Zinc – Steppin Stones (Zinc & Friction Remix)

2002 – 2008 was my personal golden era for D&B, I was just out of school & going raving in Bristol most weekends.

My first ever D&B rave was a True Playaz night at a club called Creation and I watched Zinc, Hype & Pascal smash it up with Foxy on the mic. I was hooked from that moment on.

Steppin Stones’ was just one of those high energy Rollers that got dropped a lot back then & when you heard that bass riff brewing in the blend you knew what was coming. Just one of those iconic tunes for me that brings back great memories

Zinc – Super Sharp Shooter (Run In The Jungle Remix)

Not much to say about this other than when T-I & D*Minds join forces its bound to be an absolute slammer. It’s a massive task to remix such an iconic tune but Run In The Jungle nailed it, pushing the tune to the absolute limits. It sounds so heavy in the club & is a real crowd pleaser

Dr Meaker – Hear & Now

One thing that sets Dr Meaker apart from most drum and bass producers is his knowledge & skill in analogue synthesis and sheer musical ability, alongside his incredible live band who bring the vibes every time his attention to detail can be heard in his productions.

Hear & Now with his classic rolling hard drums and heavy basslines all tied together with a sick vocal sample and a classic Dr Meaker melody makes this one of my top Bingo tunes.

Chase & Status – The Druids

Another tune that harks back to my personal golden age of D&B, I used to go see Andy C, Hype, Mampi Swift & many others back then religiously all over Bristol & this was just one of those tunes that went off every time whether doubled by Andy, Mampi or rolled out nice by Hype

Disrupta – Bongo Lover

Bongo Lover’ is right up my street, I love rollers with jungle flavours. Disrupta has nailed the vibe for me with this tune, the chopped up breaks and vocals sound so sick over the pitch bent bass and its been a favorite of mine for a few years
