Macky Gee’s Tour Goes Silver

-

Love it or hate it, there is no denying that ‘Tour’ by Macky Gee has reached anthem status!

Today ‘Tour’ got the official recognition of being a drum and bass classic having been awarded a Silver Disc to mark the single selling in excess of 200,000 units.

Tour

Since it’s release in 2017 on Brighton based Elevate Records, ‘Tour’ has been somewhat of a Marmite tune, loved & loathed in equal measures, causing many a heated discussion between drum & bass fans.

However this track makes you feel, it’s hard to argue that ‘Tour’ hasn’t become a staple anthem at many a D&B rave, played by everyone from Andy C, TC, Turno & Friction, to DJ Phantasy & Grooverider just to name a few.

Silver Award

The BRIT Certified Awards are issued to recordings that reach a milestone threshold of sales in the UK.

Currently singles are awarded Platinum status when, based on Official Charts Company data, they achieve 600,000 units, Gold for 400,000 units and Silver for 200,000 units.

It’s also possible for tracks to receive multiple accolades, for example a single that has sold 6 million units will be awarded 10 x Platinum.

This award doesn’t take into account how many streams a single has had. At the time of writing this article Macky Gee ‘Tour’ has been streamed over 51 million times on Spotify, and has gained more than 18 million plays on YouTube!! We can only assume it’s also performed incredibly well on other popular streaming services such as Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal & Amazon Music.
