It’s been two decades since Makoto’s timeless classic, “Golden Girl,” first graced the world with its soulful sound. Originally released on LTJ Bukem’s legendary Good Looking Records label in 2005, the track featured the unforgettable vocals of the late, great MC Conrad.
For years, this drum & bass anthem has been unavailable on streaming and download platforms, leaving fans yearning for its return. But now, thanks to a beautiful collaboration, Makoto has re-recorded the track with Conrad’s vocals, a testament to their enduring friendship and artistic legacy. The vocals were captured just before Conrad’s passing in May 2024, making this new version even more poignant.

Speaking on his social media channels, Makoto had the following insights about this re-recorded version…
“Conrad and myself have talked about re-recording Golden Girl for many times. But his time ran out on this world before we complete of the mission. However Conrad have left with just one take of his newly recorded vocals for Golden Girl which was recorded in August 2019!”
“I went all in, rebuilding and reconstructing the track. It was something I had to do it for his honor and keep his legacy alive. His voice sounds deeper and more meaningful and some of extra part which he was always doing on the live sets.”
“Golden Girl was one of our favorites of our works and very special to us. Also a lot of people have been asking me when it gets released digitally. But it was out of our hands as we didn’t have control for the original. But here you go, 20 years later, newly re-recorded version of Golden Girl. Hope you guys like it as same as the original. Also I’ve done a remix based on this re-recorded version.”
