SASASAS UNITE To Release New Mixtape

SASASAS, the drum & bass supergroup comprised of DJ Phantasy, Macky Gee, Harry Shotta, Shabba D and MC Skibadee, have spent the duration of lockdown working away on a unique new project entitled UNITE.

At a time when the world feels like it’s divided by one thing after another, and with everything being so serious, the guys got together and discussed creating a project that would unite lovers of all the different styles of Drum and Bass and firmly put the emphasis on having some much needed fun.

SASASAS UNITE Mixtape

This album will be released in two formats, the first being the traditional ‘mixtape’ style featuring 31 new and unreleased tracks from not just SASASAS, but also a host of new and established producers.

The 40 minute mix features the lyrical talents Skibadee, Shabba and Harry Shotta, and will be available to listen to exclusively on Spotify and Apple Music. This will then be followed up by a series of EP releases featuring all the tracks from the mixtape – full length and unmixed.

TheSASASAS UNITE mixtape features some of the biggest names in D&B, including music from SASASAS, Drumsound and Bassline Smith, Teddy Killerz, DJ Phantasy, A.M.C, Murdock, Turno and the late great Dominator. This awesome lineup is backed up with some of the freshest new talent our scene has to offer in Ben Snow, Mozey, AKAS, Amplify, Bare Up, Conrad Subs, Kara, Georgia Phoenix and many more.

UNITE Events

The UNITE brand is more than just a one off mix. Plans are being made to hostSASASAS UNITE events across the UK and Europe towards the end of the year. This album is the first in a series of Mixtape style album projects, and is SASASAS’ way of introducing and supporting some of the most exciting talent to come through in recent years & some of the originators of our scene.

The History ofSASASAS

SASASAS originally formed as a unique showcase to mark the closing party for Area nightclub in London. The response to that set was so good that Westfest booked Phantasy, Macky Gee, Skibadee, Harry Shotta, Shabba & Stormin to perform together for their huge event in October 2014… The rest is history!

In the years since that debut show the SASASAS collective have gone on to perform at events & festivals across the globe.

On top of the live show’s the group have won awards, released music & even had their own documentary which premiered at a cinema in London’s West End!!

SASASAS Documentary

The documentary ‘Up Another Level’ is an hour long film which interviews each member of the group giving an insight into how they all got their initial breaks into the drum & bass scene. The film details the rise of the group, how they came together, behind the scenes footage of them on tour, one of Harry Shotta’s incredible hip hop freestyles, plus of course a tribute to the late great MC Stormin.

MC Stormin

The documentary title ‘Up Another Level’ was taken from one of MC Stormin’s trademark call & response lyrics. Unfortunately MC Stormin, one of the original members of SASASAS, lost his long running battle with skin cancer back in 2018.

The SASASAS collective persevered through this hard time & while ‘The Hype Master’ may be gone he’s definitely not forgotten by SASASAS fans. Stormin always gets an honorary mention along with his “Buss it” lyric included in the SASASAS live shows to this day.
