The Prototypes this week celebrated their track ‘Reason’, featuring LOWES, getting played on daytime Radio One.
Greg James, a long time drum and bass fan, aired ‘Reason’ on his BBC Radio One Breakfast Show, which is one of the most listened to radio shows in the world!
Reason
‘Reason’ featured on The Prototypes self released second studio album ‘Ten Thousand Feet & Rising‘ which was released late last year & shot straight to the top of the dance charts.
This track was a collaboration with LOWES, a 3 piece outfit from Lancaster in the UK who’ve been gaining a lot of exposure & love from BBC Radio One over the past year. Their other notable collaboration credits include the likes of High Contrast, Sub Focus & Camelphat.

Blown Away
The Prototypes made an announcement on their official Facebook page that stated:
“10 years solid graft with huge ups and downs led to this point. We’ve always wanted to rep Drum & Bass on primetime radio but it’s always escaped us for whatever reason and after the insanity of the last year we thought that the dream might be completely lost …but we kept on going and out the blue today Greg James plays our track ‘Reason’ ft Lowes on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show. Not gonna lie it’s a very emotional moment. Thanks to all the Proto fans that stayed with us through thick and thin. That’s the reason we keep going“

Just The Start
In a more heartfelt status update on his personal social media, Nick from The Prototypes said:
“We’ve literally been through everything in this game in 10 years..ups & downs more than most and we’ve hung in there and kept going even when we had very very nearly lost the faith & decided to call it a day & biggup our manager Jamie Osman who never ever lost the faith when we were nearly done. It’s just the start“.
We’re sure whatever they have planned next it’s going to be pretty special! Fingers crossed this national radio exposure opens them up to a whole new fan base allowing them in turn to work on even bigger projects.
